Opel Insignia: Initial Drive Information

Stop/Start System

The vehicle may be equipped with a fuel saving Stop/Start system to shut off the engine and help conserve fuel.

When the brakes are applied and the vehicle is at a complete stop, the engine may turn off. When the brake pedal is released or the accelerator pedal is pushed, the engine will restart.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System

With Remote Start and Power With Remote Start and Power Liftgate Shown

The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter may work up to 60 m (197 ft) away from the vehicle.

Remote Vehicle Start

If equipped, the engine can be started from outside of the vehicle.

Starting the Vehicle

1. Press and release RKE transmitter. on the RKE transmitter.

2. Immediately press and hold for at least four seconds or until for at least four seconds or until the turn signal lamps flash.

Start the vehicle normally after entering.

When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will turn on.

Remote start can be extended.

Canceling a Remote Start

To cancel a remote start, do one of the following:

  • Press and hold parking lamps turn off. until the parking lamps turn off.
  • Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
  • Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Door Locks

To lock or unlock the door from outside the vehicle:

  • Press on the Remote or Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
  • Use Keyless Access.
  • Use the key. The key lock

cylinder is covered with a cap.

From inside the vehicle pull once on the door handle to unlock it. Pulling the door handle again unlatches it.

Pushing down the manual lock knob on the driver door will lock all doors.

Pushing down the manual lock knob on a passenger door will lock that door only.

Power Door Locks

: Press to unlock the doors.

Liftgate

Press the emblem on the end of the liftgate to open the liftgate.

Use the handle to lower and close

Use the handle to lower and close the liftgate.

Power Liftgate Operation

If equipped with a power liftgate, the switch is on the driver door. The vehicle must be in P (Park).

Choose the power liftgate mode by selecting MAX or 3/4. Press .

The driver door must be unlocked.

On the RKE transmitter press twice quickly until the liftgate starts twice quickly until the liftgate starts moving.

Press any liftgate button while the liftgate is moving to stop it. Pressing again reverses the direction.

To close, press side of the liftgate from the pull cup. on the opposite side of the liftgate from the pull cup.

To disable the power liftgate function, select OFF on the liftgate switch.

Windows

Warning: Children could be seriously injured or killed if caught in the path of a closing window. Never leave the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter in a vehicle with children. When there are children in the rear seat, use the window lockout switch to prevent operation of the windows.

The power windows work when the

The power windows work when the ignition is on, in ACC/ACCESSORY, or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active.

Using the window switch, press to open or pull to close the window.

The windows may be temporarily disabled if they are used repeatedly within a short time.

Seat Adjustment

Manual Seats

Warning: You can lose control of the vehicle if you try to adjust a driver seat while the vehicle is moving.

Adjust the driver seat only when the vehicle is not moving.

1. Pull up on the handle at the front of the seat.

2. Slide the seat to the desired position and release the handle.

3. Try to move the seat back and forth to be sure it is locked in place.

Seat Height Adjuster

2. Move the seatback to the desired position, and then release the lever to lock the seatback in place.

1. Lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback, and the seatback will return to the upright position.

2. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked.

Power Seats

To adjust a power seat, if equipped:

  • Move the seat forward or rearward by sliding the control forward or rearward.
  • Raise or lower the front part of the seat cushion by moving the front of the control up or down.
  • Raise or lower the entire seat by moving the rear of the control up or down.

Power Reclining Seatbacks

  • Tilt the top of the control rearward to recline.
  • Tilt the top of the control forward to raise.

Lumbar Adjustment

To adjust the lumbar support, if equipped:

  • Press and hold the front or rear of the control to increase or decrease lumbar support.
  • If equipped, press and hold the top or bottom of the control to raise or lower lumbar support.

Back Bolster Adjustment

To adjust the back bolster support,

  • Press and hold the front of the control to decrease back bolster support.
  • Press and hold the rear of the control to increase back bolster support.

Thigh Support Adjustment

If equipped, pull up on the lever.

If equipped, pull up on the lever.

Then pull or push on the support to lengthen or shorten. Release the lever to lock in place.

Massage

If equipped, the ignition must be on to use the massage feature.

If equipped, press the massage

If equipped, press the massage button to use the massage feature.

To stop massage, press this button again.

The massage feature will turn off after approximately 10 minutes.

Press the massage button to restart the massage feature.

Memory Features

If equipped, memory seats allow two

If equipped, memory seats allow two drivers to save and recall their unique seat positions for driving the vehicle, and a shared exit position for getting out of the vehicle. Other feature positions may also be saved, such as power mirrors and power steering wheel, if equipped.

Memory positions are linked to RKE transmitter 1 or 2 for automatic memory recalls.

Before saving, adjust all available memory feature positions. Turn the ignition on and then press and release SET; a beep will sound.

Then immediately press and hold 1, 2, or (Exit) until two beeps (Exit) until two beeps sound. To manually recall these positions, press and hold 1, 2, or until the saved position is reached. until the saved position is reached.

When Auto Memory Recall is enabled in vehicle personalization, positions previously saved to memory buttons 1 and 2 are recalled when the ignition is changed from off to on or ACC/ ACCESSORY.

When Easy Exit Options is enabled in vehicle personalization, the feature automatically recalls the previously saved exit position when exiting the vehicle.

Memory adjustments may not be available upon delivery or after service until steps in "Saving Memory Positions" section are performed.

Heated and Ventilated Seats

Press the button once for the highest setting. With each press of the button, the seat will change to the next lower setting, and then to the off setting. The indicator lights next to the buttons indicate three for the highest setting and one for the lowest. If the heated seats are on high, the level may automatically be lowered after approximately 30 minutes.

Head Restraint Adjustment

Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly.

To achieve a comfortable seating position, change the seatback recline angle as little as necessary while keeping the seat and the head restraint height in the proper position.

Passenger Sensing System

The passenger sensing system

The passenger sensing system turns off the front outboard passenger frontal airbag and knee airbag under certain conditions. No other airbag is affected by the passenger sensing system. The passenger airbag status indicator will light on the overhead console when the vehicle is started.

Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror

The mirror automatically dims to reduce the glare of headlamps from behind. The dimming feature comes on when the vehicle is started.

Exterior Mirrors

Folding Mirrors

Windshield Wiper/Washer

Driver Shift Control (DSC) allows you to shift an automatic transmission similar to a manual transmission. To use the DSC feature:

1. Move the shift lever to the left from D (Drive) into the side gate marked with (+) and (-).
